The Perfect Potted Perennial
To begin with they are really cool looking plants with deep green, strap-like leaves which make a perfect backdrop for the brilliantly-coloured flowers that bloom for many weeks in March. Their annual show depends on the plants being grown outdoors in a lightly-shaded spot for the summer and indoors in a bright but cool (10C) room when brought in for the winter.

Named after the redoubtable Duchess Lady Clive, once guardian to the young Princess Victoria, whose gardener was the first to flower this extravagantly beautiful species collected in the woods of the Natal region of South Africa in 1810. Clivia have been cherished ever since and have been on the wish list of many of our customers. Over the years gardeners captivated by the orange-red blooms have found other forms and have actively hybridized these to produce the incredible variety of superior varieties we see today. For those of you who've asked, we're pleased to deliver and for those who've yet to discover we urge you to give them a try.

SOLOMONE CLIVIA
Without a doubt the late Joe Solomone was the Clivia King of North America. His yellow Clivias are the very best in the world, celebrated for their range of flower forms and colours. Over his lifetime of selection he has divided them into colour strains with a range of flower shapes, forms and foliage widths in each strain. They are shipped bare root and should be potted one per 20cm (8") pot.

Our Clivia plants are shipped bare-root.
