Gardening Books >Lilies

It's pretty difficult to think of a bulb that is more accommodating than the lily. They can be planted in fall or spring, in the border, or in pots with equal success. It's almost as if they were made for the Canadian climate; they're hardy to Zone 3 unless marked otherwise. All they ask is a well-drained location in sun. Trumpets and Asiatic Hybrids bloom in June/July. Oriental Hybrids begin their display in mid to late August as a rule. The new Orienpets are utterly amazing in the garden - long lasting, heat tolerant and deliciously fragrant. One thing to remember -- if you are looking for a really spectacular display plant several of the same variety close together.
