GLOBEMASTER

This may be just the one for you if you're ready to gather a little neighbourhood homage. Each huge globe, easily 25cm (10") across, is composed of over 1000 lavender florets. It all started back in 1964 when an enterprising Dutch bee took a short-cut between A. christophii from Iran and A. macleanii from Afghanistan. This casual liaison resulted in an exciting hybrid cross with glowing lavender blooms on sturdy 100cm (40") stalks. GLOBEMASTER doesn't waste energy creating seed so the flower display lasts for up to 4 weeks beginning in late May. Hardy to zone 4 at least, with a good mulch.

Allium look best when underplanted with other plants that hide their ripening foliage.

Bulb size 20+cm.
